daily prayer

    Good morning! How are we faithing? What a lot we humans are. We tend to miss things written in the Word like God doesn't want us to have anything. We pray to win the lotto while dreaming of all the stuff we can buy for ourselves. Some of us look at people who have a lot of stuff and say things like,"he ripped off others for that stuff". Gee whiz man, wars have been fought over stuff one side has over the other. Jesus said this;

Mat 7:7  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Mat 7:8  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

But when we ask amiss, greedily, lustfully, in envy, don't expect anything. Be honest with yourself about what you are asking for, Ponder if you are pitying yourself or looking at what others have and saying, "why not me". Seek what the Lord has in store for you because what he has in store is infinitely better than what we imagine. Look at what is being said in today's study;

Jas 4:1  From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
Jas 4:2  Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
Jas 4:3  Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

Let me use me as an example. I want a 66-67 Fairlane that does wheelies. I want a 63 Stratocaster. I want a 100' by 100' garage  but you know what? I don't envy those that have those things. I am happy for them and like to watch that wheelie, hear that guitar, smile at what comes out of a garage like that. Point is, Verse 4:3 today ought to make us sit up and examine ourselves don't you think?

Heavenly Father,
    Please forgive us when our eyes get clouded by our lusts. Help us recognize what you have for us and pursue that with contentment. Help us always prop others up and not be like the Pharisees who were critical of every thing out of envy. Thank you Father for your love that saves a lot like us. Help us love as you do. Help us reach out to the lost. In Jesus name, amen
