Good morning! How are we faithing? There is so much happening in our lives that sometimes it can be hard to tell good from bad, righteousness from unrighteousness, good intentions from deeds that serve gain. Our hearts are made to honor God and when we are in the world we can get sidetracked with all the enticements this world has to offer. An old song from a group I like alot said something that was plain wrong. They said something to the affect, "you don't have to die and go to heaven or be born again, tune in to what this world has to offer" yadda yadda. Gee whiz, the trappings of wealth,sex,drugs sure reared its face on that one. The trappings of this world can snare us when we don't stay focused on God. We need to pay attention to our surroundings and examine what flies at us and how we react so that we are truly living and sharing God's love. We have warnings in the Word of these things that will happen so arm ourselves;
Galatians 6:7-10
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
NIV
Colossians 3:5-11
Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.
NIV
Colossians 3:13-14
Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
NIV
Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
NIV
Keep persevering. Don't fall for the enticements that ruin us. In doubt? Seek the wisdom of God, not man. It doesn't take a genius to see mans ways failing everywhere...remember our leaders...remember our troops...
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for all you do and all you show us in your Word. Lord thank you for taking us as we are and transforming our minds. Lord we ask for wisdom and vision so we can focus on you. Lord we lift our leaders to you. We also lift the troops up that they may show mercy. Lord help us live as we should and not get caught up in this world. Thank you in Jesus name, Amen
