Good morning! How are we faithing? Speaking on the subject we've been talking about the last few days it occurs to me that whenever the media or the cultural things of our time are set high in importance, we make idols of the darnedest thing. I remember in the 70's people were flat ate up with the ERA movement. That became all consuming and thusly an idol of sorts. I was so into hot rods at one time that nothing else mattered. I ate, slept and all my thoughts were on them. That is an idol. So what becomes an idol in your life? Football? Nascar? Music? Job? Anything can if we are not careful of the position we put those things in. There's nothing wrong with being passionate about those things but to the extent and to which or what sacrifice is made for them determines the height or priority they have in our lives. The beauty of the Lord is he made us with these skills and desires to achieve but in reverence we need to remember that by design and not of our will, he is to be honored and glorified for those things. Can we rely on those previous things to save us? Do those things give us breath of life? Of course not so don't believe the hype! All things on this earth are fleeting, God is not. Think about this and check to see if you have fallen into the trap the media, culture or anything else has used to replace God as number one.
Hab 2:18-20
"Of what value is an idol, since a man has carved it? Or an image that teaches lies? For he who makes it trusts in his own creation; he makes idols that cannot speak. Woe to him who says to wood, 'Come to life!' Or to lifeless stone, 'Wake up!' Can it give guidance? It is covered with gold and silver; there is no breath in it. But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him."

Ps 3:7
Arise, O LORD! Deliver me, O my God!

Heavenly Father,
Thank your for your grace and love that puts up with the likes of us. Lord, help us see where we create idols and help us put in the proper place all our daily things. Help us rely on your strength and wisdom and give us such a desire to know you. Open up the scriptures to us. Lord we lift those in need today. Touch them and heal them and let the recipients know it was you. Lord, touch Ben and JR, calm Diane and Doug.
In Jesus' name, amen
