Good Friday morning! How are we faithing? It is still amazing that people still think they can earn salvation and that their good behavior will offset their bad. Guys, not so. You and I can never do enough to sway the good over the bad. Heck man, just out thoughts alone condemn us. I know it's contrary to conventional wisdom to think all we have to do is accept a gift of redemption but it's all there is to it. We've talked so much about this but we keep seeing displays of "earned" repentance. Look at these and get your Bible out and cross reference the verses and see it for yourself because unless the gift God offers is accepted, the outcome is bleak.
Eph 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.
NAS
Rom 4:4-8
Now when a man works, his wages are not credited to him as a gift, but as an obligation. However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness. David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
"Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him."
NIV
John 3:36
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."
NIV
John 6:40
For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."
NIV

Heavenly Father,
Help us know your grace saves. Help us rest that when we fail we can ask forgiveness and we have it and it doesn't effect our salvation. Help us know we are saved when we believe and the good works are done out of love and not for gain. Lord we ask for healing for the kids mentioned. We praise and honor you in Jesus' holy name, amen
