daily prayer

    Good morning!  How are we faithing? I watch relationships around me and some are really good and some really suck.  It amazes me when I see a repeat of behavior that results in pain and anguish. Why is that? Guys tell me they are this or that man and they keep walking headlong into the same old junk and why? To please some sort of ideal in their head and even amid that continual anguish they keep making the same mistake. The Word tells us how we ought to behave so look at this and then we will continue;

Eph 5:25-30
  Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,  that he might present the church to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.  Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his own wife loveth himself:  for no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as Christ also the church;   because we are members of his body.

What is so hard about this? Do we have such a view of our wives or future wives we would use and abuse then toss them aside? How ridiculous to think because they are the weaker sex we can treat them shamely. They are weaker in areas we are not. They are stronger in areas we are not. God designed them for us to be equals but the buck stops with us by design. Women may have trouble with this due to liberalism in the media and because of OUR failings in following and understanding of scripture. Guys, we gotta understand the whole council of God and start acting Christlike towards our other halves.  Partners, not opposing sides. One flesh not two co-habitating out of convenience. You want a better marriage? You better act with the Word in the front of your mind. You better cherish her. Women, there's a whole lot of instruction in the Word for you too...

remember Linda and Ben...

Heavenly Father,
   Thank you for your Word that is our instruction manual for living. Lord we lift our spouses and future spouses to you. Prepare us and prepare them. Open our eyes to our shortcomings and not theirs. Help us act lovingly and with dignity.  Grant us wisdom to know what to do. Teach us to love as Christ does. In Jesus name, amen
