Good morning! How are we faithing? When we study scriptures we must remember that even if we don't quite get what we are ready, if we continue on it many times explains itself. Many of the ideas or imagery is for reasons of presenting an idea rather than simple facts. How do you describe your love for your children or siblings or any loved one? Hard to put in words isn't it. There is also much poetry and languishing ideas with different words to express Gods love. Prophecy is full of imagery. Think how hard it would have been for a vision of the future to be expressed if lets say the person was on 100 B.C. and was seeing the 15th century or the 21st century. How would they describe what they see? Flight, cannons, tanks, motor vehicles even bicycles. How about instant on stoves, running water out a faucet, toilets, wrist watches. You see how references to things in their day are used for describing things in the future? So sit back and read the prophets with an excited view of how it all is presented. The promises of God and his guidance throughout the ages. God is so good and his love is so evident in these scriptures. Picture what John was seeing in these passages;
Rev 9:17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.
Rev 9:18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
Rev 9:19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.
Hmmm, could be jets, tanks or what image does your brain come up with? The beauty of exploring scripture...
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for scripture. Thank you for visions and dreams. Lord we ask for wisdom to see truth in everything. We ask for courage to speak your gospel to the lost. Take away any fear we have of what man may do to us. Let us rest in your peace. In Jesus name, amen
