Good morning! How are we faithing? There is a funeral service for a young wife this morning and my heart hurts for the family. There is little anyone can say to ease the pain this family is feeling. "God needed another angel" and "they're finally at peace" or any similar statements do not help. While the family may recognize that we care there just aren't any comforting words at this time. A hug, an "I'm sorry for your loss" is about as good as anything. We all have or will be in this families position and it is prudent to prepare beforehand so when we are in that place...
Ecc 3:1-8
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Heavenly Father,
Prepare our hearts Lord for those times. Help our grief. Help us not fall into despair. Rebuke the enemy for us when we are low. Lord bless the families that are dealing with loss this day and help our compassion be for them and help us control our tongues so we don't say things that make us feel better.....in Jesus name, amen
