Good morning! How are we faithing? After the wind down from the Christmas holiday we may have a hint of depression. Not at all unusual, in fact, depression isn't a very descriptive word for the feeling many have. It's more like coming down off a an adrenaline rush. You are ok and it will pass. Don't dwell on it or even feed it. For many that were in a position they didn't or couldn't celebrate our saviors birth in the traditional sense it can be even harder. No family around, no tree, no egg nogg, no sitting around watching the children's wide eyed wonderment can make for a heart breaking time. Remember that all things change and nothing is new under the sun. Remember we are under the SON and even if all this around us goes away, that doesn't change. I got to watch the generational shift as it were this year. It has shifted it seems from Grandma and Grandpa's to the granddaughter and grandson carrying on the tradition and it is very cool. Now in most families there are two side of the families and subsequent traditions. That can be difficult to manage but as we get older a streamlining kind of takes effect. Traditions modify and some even go away and it can be discouraging. Don't let it be. My grandparents ways are not mine and now that I am a grand parent, new ones will emerge. Remember what we do and why. Remember to deal with today because like the Word tells us, yesterday is gone and tomorrow's worries are tomorrows.
Mat 6:34
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
This to encourage you that these traditions will change and that is ok. Don't let yourself get sad but be happy others after us will enjoy what we start. Ever looked at it that way?
remember our troops...remember our emergency workers...remember Johns Mom...
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the privilege of celebration your birth and enjoying our families. Lord we praise you! Lord we lift your holy name! We lift those people who need to see your face and come to know you! We lift those under the bridges. We lift the hungry. Open our eyes to a new kind of way to honor you and your love for us. Help us meet needs where we can. Be with us today as we go out to meet the world. In Jesus name, amen
