Good morning! How are we faithing? Before Jesus, the Jewish nation did not evangelize. You either were born into the Jewish nation or not. There were exceptions I'm sure but they just did not tell or try to bring people into their sect as it were. Jesus came and upset the whole apple cart. The great commission was all about going out and making disciples of Christ. Makes one wonder. I heard a sermon about the Jewish nation and I guess I never picked up on the fact that Abraham was not Jewish. Yes his seed is a root in the Jewish nation but he wasn't a Jew. Jesus was and his lineage can be traced all the way back to Abraham. We are by salvation into the chosen people by faith, not by blood. Why would this matter? Well it's explained here;
Rom 4:13-17
For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
The law condemned and faith saves. So since Jesus shed his blood and gave his life so we could become one of God's people we are now justified and heirs of God. I don't know why things had to be the way they are and I suppose one day it will make sense but I am sure glad we gentiles have a way to God!
