daily prayer

Good morning! How are we faithing? That niece I spoke of recently gave birth to a beautiful baby boy last night! Cool!
When we study the Word we have a tendency to look through our own eyes. What I mean is we look from the standpoint of our experiences, our time in history. If we were to study ancient Greece for example it wouldn't be of any use if we looked at it from an oriental cultural view would it? Certain phrases, certain words could take a whole different meaning thus a whole thought process could lead on down a path that was never intended. All that to say that we must be careful not to get all twisted up by taking scripture out of context or even worse, taking scripture and twisting it for gain. History bears it out. How many cults have ended in disaster? How many times have people been ostracized for perceived infractions? Study the Word. Don't let someone else study for you. Ask questions. Test spirits. A simple example is when the census was taken in Jesus' time, everyone walked or rode in an animal drawn wagon to their place of birth for the count. No phones, no telegraph. It would make sense that it would be called in good weather no? When we are asked to participate in a census in this day and age it's pretty darn easy compared to those times so if we were to read about an event like that thinking in today's terms we would miss all the hardship. the journey pitfalls that could have taken place. We could miss important aspects that are essential to the story being told. Just think about this the next time you read your Bible...

pray for the Moores and their new boy!

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your wisdom in your written Word. Thank you for revealing yourself to us. Forgive us when we stumble and help stand when we fall. We praise you for all things, in Jesus name, amen
