Good morning! How are we faithing? It is wonderful to study the Word of God and discover things that we pass over before. Here's a wonderful passage that opens up thoughts and ideas;
Gen 1:27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Gen 1:27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
The word man is used or rather translated from the hebrew word adam, said aw-dawm. It means human being. Then the distinction between boys and girls is made at the end. So these make one realize God made man and woman so it's logical to conclude that there is no superiority one over the other in the two kinds of humans. Hmm, leads to other thoughts. When the two people, Adam and Eve were being chastised by God for disobeying God's one command of eating from the tree of life, both the man and woman were dealt with harshly but in different ways.
Eve;
Gen 3:16
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Adam:
Gen 3:17-19
And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
The obvious things stated to these two are self evident but where some have a problem is the "ruling" over Eve by Adam. That my friends opens up a whole new train of thought. Does it mean the woman is subservient to the man? Does it mean master-slave relationship? Not at all, in fact later on we are told to lead by example. We are to nourish our wife. We are to be the strong one but by gentleness do we lead because we understand that by "weaker vessel" the Word doesn't mean lesser. Adrian Rodgers said it best,"she's a porcelain cup, he's a hammer. You can't drink tea out of a hammer any more than drive nails with a cup".
Do you see that? Here's an example of that relationship;
1Co 7:3-4
Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
See the equality? We are different but we complete each other. If she is the half I need, why would I ever look down, neglect, abuse or even ignore her? If he is the half you need, why would you not respect, love, nurture him? It's not him against her, it's us against the world.
