Good morning! How are we faithing? Do you realize when a couple gets married under God that there are two funerals? When those vows are said the two become one. The man dies to self and the woman dies to self. The two become one flesh. Now this sometimes seems ridiculous but what the Word has told us is that the man's concern is his wife and the woman's concern is her husband. If that practice is adhered to many problems become non problems. If that practice is done correctly, that point where two people in the same household living separate live wont happen. Do we no longer have our own desires? Do we no longer have our own personality thus likes and dislikes? Of course not but what it means is the priority of everything comes before their own. Now this principle takes work from both people in so much that the other is considered first, after God of course. I wouldn't want my bride to demand I don't participate in a hobby thus I should not demand she doesn't. I should not attempt to forbid something she loves as she shouldn't do likewise. What WE should do is sit down and talk about these things with selfish desires put aside and come to a reasonable choice made together. For example is my hot rod in the garage. She doesn't care how I build it with the exception of budgetary concerns or time taken away from more important things like Church, bible study, time with her. Likewise I don't say a word about her wanting to read all the time except when OUR time is neglected or she smells bad because she wont stop long enough to bath.Do you see this principle at work in your marriage? Do you do what you want no matter what? Do you ignore the spouses wishes? If both consider each other both will live as one. Another quick way to thing about it is; you wouldn't begrudge yourself so if you and the other are one, why would you deny the other? Stop and think before you speak or demand. Consider the others feelings, needs, wants before you act unbecoming to your spouse. Read 1 Corinthians 7.
Heavenly Father,
Help us in our relationships. Help us put you first and the other second and us third. Help us see the other as a helper to our completeness and not like property. Help us expect no more than we give thus help us give all to the other. Lord we love and honor your holy name, in Jesus name we pray.
