Good morning! How are we faithing? Besides the Word of God I read different men and women of God writings. I also read hot rod magazine but I avoid trite commentary on spiritual things from non messianic authors. Why you say? For me it clutters my seven brain cells. I don't like TV shows full of people sleeping with whomever they please or other acts of sin that are portrayed as "normal". How about you? Are you able to watch or read things contrary to our beliefs in messiah and not be affected? Don't kid yourself. It does affect you. How do I know? By the relaxing of moral standards in the country and the many Christians sitting in their pews and letting it happen. We Christians have come to not even see sin because we see it all the time. We've become accustomed to sin. We can't judge the sinner, in fact, we ought to pray for those we see committing those sins. We ought to lift them up immediately but also need to stand up when appropriate. Walking around with signs that slam the sinner rather than the sin is dead wrong. If a protest of that type takes place the signs ought to condemn the sin and not get personal. The Holy Spirit will convict. I had a young man approach me about a sin he was involved in and asked my opinion. I showed him scripture about that sin yet he kept asking what I thought. I told him Jesus loves him, died for him and what I think is irrelevant. To many times we Christians get on our high horse and speak what we think rather than speaking what Jesus taught. As we present Jesus and the Word of God, the conviction will come and if we badger sinners we will harden their hearts rather than lead them to the Lord. Jesus can melt a hardened sin filled heart. Love people. Don't participate in the dirty joke session. Read what edifies and not what may influence you away from holy things. Watch things that lift rather than slam down. You know, church's main mission is to seek the lost and lead them to Christ. If all we ever do is go to church and hold it all close to the breast, we are not making disciples but being selfish."It's my salvation, get your own" is a terrible waste. This Jesus speaking;
Joh 10:7-18
Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
Heavenly Father,
We lift Gordon up to you. Reveal yourself to him. Father we ask for wisdom and courage to stand on your Word. We ask for divine intervention to really love the lost and a willingness to share your love for them. Help us this weekend to reach out in your name. It is in your name, Jesus, we pray, amen
