daily prayer

    Good morning! How are we faithing? Some have been taught in church circles to not associate with sinners. Some have been told to do this or that or you are not a Christian? What? Where did those thoughts come from? They certainly are not biblical. I knew a gal who used this verse;
2Co 6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

She used this as an excuse to divorce her husband. So how would that person explain this?

1Co 7:10-16
  And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:
  But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.  But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.  And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.
For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?

This is an example of pulling scripture for ones own use to get what they desire. That 6:14 verse was used to leave a spouse. That verse was pulled out of context.  These types of things happen all the time and we had better be well versed in what God said or we can be led down a path of destruction.
When one studies the "unequally yoked" verse one will discover it's a difference of intimate and casual friends. We must all have lost casual friends /acquaintances or why do we go to church? Check this out;
1Co 15:33
Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.

Remember this?
 Pro 13:20
He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

It's about context. It's about what truly was taught and not cultural inflections. It's about study and desiring to know God and not using the Word to make one holier than those other people. It's about comparing your life to Jesus and when you find you are in err you fix it. That gal first talked about today, I don't know her situation with her husband but grabbing that one verse, finding another guy at the same time is not a wise thing to do and it would not surprise me if her world turned upside down and neither men stayed around but then again I pray she woke up, found forgiveness and became the woman God designed her to be.

remember Ricky Wheeler...remember Shannon...remember Jessica...

Heavenly Father,
  Keep us mindful of your truth and accepting of that truth even when we desire another outcome. Help us desire what you desire for our lives. Bless those mentioned and help them see your face. Thank you for friends and family. Thank you for talents and the ability to enjoy this earth you made. Lord we ask for wisdom to be the best witness we can be for your grace and love. In Jesus name, amen
