Good morning! How are we faithing? The trappings of religion and worldly men can ensnare us with the use of arguments, guilt, sense of owing and other things that get twisted up and perverted for gain. Happens all over the place. Flattery to coerce, guilt to fill the collection plate, arguments over words or use of words that end up serving no one but the argument. To many times, especially in times of grief, words are said to comfort but in fact twist truth into sentiment that can destroy ones faith or at the least cause a lie to be believed and perpetrated again and again. The Bible teaches us what is truth and anything added to it brings one's thinking to that like the pharisees who picked the letter of the Word out while missing the spirit of the Word. How come we fall for these things? How come we feel the need to say sentimental untruths thinking it will help people feel better? Who is served? "They were a good person and I'm sure is in heaven now", what? That isn't based on any scripture and in fact, is contrary. The Word says none are good. The only thing that matters is the free gift of salvation from Jesus, all else is filler and to add to that is heresy. Counting good deeds as a way into heaven has no basis on anything but human logic so why do we hear this at Bob's funeral home? It's a need we have to reach out and comfort grieving loved ones but a disservice is actually being done. Nothing said but "I love you and I'm praying for you" is all that is needed to be said, if anything at all. Read this below and think about these as you listen to yourself speak....
1Ti 6:1-7
Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your grace that you show to us. Thank you for salvation. Keep our minds clear and alert to wrong thinking and words. Grant us wisdom to see folly. Help us say what YOU would say in times of grief and stress. Open our minds to your kingdom and glory. Let us see you so vivid today that we desire to see you more and more. Bless those suffering this day. Calm them with the peace only you can provide. In Jesus naem, amen
