Good morning! How are we faithing? We talked about pain yesterday and I want to pass on some things I have discovered in the Word and in life as an old man. I believe a practical balance of real pain and suffering verses inconvenience needs to be addressed. I talked to someone yesterday who lost their son in law of 39 to cancer. "A horrible death" as relayed to me. While an explanation for such an untimely death is not for me to decipher but a discussion is due. Of course the grief and all that comes with dealing with such an event is not the focus today. Pain is. Real pain that can become incapacitating. Pain that throws you to the floor sobbing and a feeling of your heart being ripped out. That pain is not like wrecking your car or losing your house or breaking your I-phone. We as believers we have to recognize whether we are merely unhappy with the situation or really in pain. The book of Job is a book ya'll should read, remembering he lost all his kids, all his wealth and his body had sores and physical pain not unlike that young man aforementioned. As believers in Christ we are redeemed from the curse of the law and all the things that come our way on this earth are fleeting. I'm not saying those little things, comparatively speaking, don't hurt but have you ever paused and counted your blessings when things occur? As an old fella I can assure you that most times pain is caused by my own actions. Afflictions are because I didn't take precautions as a younger man or even perhaps neglect in general. It comes down to where your head is at. Are you selfish enough to blame or throw a tantrum, or wise enough to seek the Lord when pain comes? Again, this forum is not a book but encouragement and thought provoking so YOU seek our our savior. To be continued...
