Good morning! How are we faithing? A huge subject is works in our faith. Many still think that they can impress God by doing churchy things. Hey guys and gals, the Bible is the minimum standard. If we aint doing everything we miss the mark. Now that I have got your attention lets talk about "works". The Bible is a cause and effect book that God put together under the unction of the Holy Spirit. It is designed to show us what to expect when we do certain things. With that in mind, lets look at this first verse;
Jas 2:14 What shall it profit, my brethren, if a man say he hath faith, but hath not works? Shall faith be able to save him?
Works is a result of faith and not the other way around. Oh there is obedience and some times when we don't feel like doing certain things we do them anyways simply because we should and that ain't necessarily bad but when we truly are compassionate believers we do those types of things without taking note or expecting anything in return. Our faith is evident by our actions. Look at this example;
Jas 2:15 And if a brother or sister be naked and want daily food:
Jas 2:16 And one of you say to them: Go in peace, be ye warmed and filled; yet give them not those things that are necessary for the body, what shall it profit?
Think about that. Ever driven by someone in rags with your new coat on? What if you stopped, gave them your coat and shirt too...and told no one, except maybe your spouse who wants to know where your coat went. That would be faith at work wouldn't it?
Jas 2:17 So faith also, if it have not works, is dead in itself.
Jas 2:18 But some man will say: Thou hast faith, and I have works. Shew me thy faith without works; and I will shew thee, by works, my faith.
We will continue this subject tomorrow....
Heavenly Father,
Forgive us when we fail and miss the mark. Help us be intune to the needs of others. Help us be an example of faith at work. Help us to see the wisdom in your Word. Bless the children this flu season. In Jesus name, amen
