daily prayer

Good morning! How are we faithing? Continuing with the subject of faith and works we find examples and we find more in depth the importance of works. Verse 19 makes a point to show even the devils believe but their works are not Godly so believing is the start to faith in God. Verse 20 points directly at those who profess faith but do nothing about it. When one has a pure faith they can't help but do good works and if none exist, dead faith, lip service. Verses 21-23 reminds the reader of one of the greatest man of faith, Abraham(Genesis 22) Give it a read. Then the story of Rahab ,(Joshua 2), another great read. We find in the last verse today exactly what is being explained. Faith without works is simply useless, dead. Don't get hung up on what you may perceive as good works either. Many think if they are not in Africa as a missionary they are not doing good works. Really? Good works start at home, moves to your job, that check out kid at Macy's, that grocery store bagger on and on. Good works is manifested because of our faith and goes everywhere we go. I don't mean smiling all the time and never have a rough day but when those things happen we have a savior who gets it. We have a savior who is right there with us. We have a Holy Spirit who is ever present. People, when those times come a quick prayer works and is prudent. "Help me Lord" works really well and we can get back to the business of our Father....

Jas 2:19  Thou believest that there is one God. Thou dost well: the devils also believe and tremble.
Jas 2:20  But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
Jas 2:21  Was not Abraham our father justified by works, offering up Isaac his son upon the altar?
Jas 2:22  Seest thou that faith did cooperate with his works and by works faith was made perfect?
Jas 2:23  And the scripture was fulfilled, saying: Abraham believed God, and it was reputed to him to justice, and he was called the friend of God.
Jas 2:24  Do you see that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only?
Jas 2:25  And in like manner also Rahab the harlot, was not she justified by works, receiving the messengers and sending them out another way?
Jas 2:26  For even as the body without the spirit is dead: so also faith without works is dead.

Oh Lord we ask for your Holy Spirit rain down on us this day. Help us be of good cheer in your presence. Make it so obvious to us that your love transcends all we face. Help us remember we are sons and daughters of the most high and nothing here can get us. Help us remember when we leave this vessel we will be with you forever. Help our minds grasp how you love us so and keep our minds keen to the needs of others. Help us be great ambassadors for a faith that is alive! in Jesus name, amen
