Good morning? How are we faithing? As we move on in James we find wisdom for life! Paul is talking here about a way of living that we all should strive for. So many times we do not do what is said in these passages. As emotional beings we fly off the handle before we get all the info. We shout in anger out of offense. We make statements that we later regret so;
Jas 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
Jas 1:20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
The narrative we see in the media these days proves this out. They seem to be quick to take tidbits and run with them and guess what? We do too. Ever got tick over something you half heard, started chewing on someone only to realize you didn't hear what you thought you heard? Ya, me too but I'm getting better! Thank God! Wisdom;
Pro 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Pro 14:29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
Wow man, that's right to the point! We have talked about the tongue and what it does before and there seems to be a lot scriptures about that flappy thing in our mouths.
Ecc 10:12 The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.
Ecc 10:13 The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness: and the end of his talk is mischievous madness.
Heavenly Father,
Help us to be quick to hear and slow to speak. Help us not get fired up and help us not sin in anger. Lord we want to please you, forgive us please when we miss it. We ask more for wisdom than anything Lord because we know your Word is truer than anyone else. Thank you for it, in Jesus name, amen
