Good morning! How are we faithing? Do you love our fellow brethren? Do you love the sinner? Do you love that neighbor that drives you nuts? Do you find these things unsettling? Ya, me too. It's hard to love someone when they wrong you. It's hard to love in a society where we get crapped on by seemingly everyone. Road rage, crimes of all sorts, bitter speech, gossip and on and on. The way we love our kids or siblings is a typically good way to look at how we are to love others. We don't have to like or even agree yet we still should love. How we treat people is a gage of our love. We are under grace, we are to love the sinner. What the sin is doesn't matte rbut loving the sinner does. Look, I know sometimes when you are wronged you cant seem to do that but please please try to pray for that jerk and ask God to tenderize your heart. Forgive, you may not be able to be near that person but follow Jesus lead on this.
Matthew 5:43-6:1
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
NIV
Tall order right there but we can do this by prayer and understanding that we are being loved by God so who do we think we are to not love likewise? Our attitude must change. We must be humble. We must be secure in who we are. To achieve these things we must be in the Word. We must seek God's face daily. Our culture will run all over us and consume us if we don't stand guard. Realize that our Father in heaven loves us so much that he gave his son as a ransom for us. Boy, don't think I could do that. This also leads to our self worth and seeking accolades from men. Our goal should not be the glory here but to bring glory to God.
Matthew 6:1-4
"Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
NIV
Being praised for a job well done is fine but doing it for the praise, well that could take you down a path of concessions that may lead to glory seeking that leads you away from the Word and the face of God. Be humble and loving. Search the Word to do this. On our own I believe we can't do it. ..
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for showing us your Word. Thank you for knowing we need you and offering your wisdom to us. Lord we lift up those who are in trouble physically. Touch them and show your mercy. Lord we lift our troops and their leaders to you. Guide them with your holy hand. Lord thank you for loving us cretins. Guide our tongues in Jesus name, Amen
