     Good morning! How are we faithing? When humans get comfortable, wanting for nothing, idle, they tend to go astray. An example is the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. This was a prosperous city that was filled with all kinds of sin because of those conditions. The Roman empire fell from the same thing. Other empires decayed into debauchery for the same reasons. This being noted, one must read this with different glasses on;

  Jas 1:2-3  Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.

We often complain when calamity or difficult times come at us but maybe we should realize that is the time to seek the Lord. With that in mind Paul's statement makes sense. Oh we don't wish for trials to make us seek the Lord but humans revert it seems to self serving things when all is smooth sailing. Refer back to those cities and civilizations that fall. Look at this;

 Jas 1:12  Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

Paul is telling us to be vigilant in seeking the Lord. Be aware that you will come out the other side of a trial sinning not if you recognize and act according to the principles the Word lays out. Go back and read Genesis 13 and James.

Heavenly Father, Thank you for your wisdom that teaches us to follow you. Help us react to calamity in a holy manner so we draw closer to you. We lift those suffering to you. We ask they see your light in everything. In Jesus name, amen
