Good morning! How are you faithing? As I studied different denominations within the protestant ilk I find some very interesting behaviors throughout the time of the protestant reformation. It seems there were some arguments over things that did not deserve the attention or the prominence given. Mankind tends to get real wrapped up in opinions, especially their own. Having discussions with fellow believers in private over issues can be an iron sharpening iron scenario or it can be futile arguments that serve nothing. Solidifying ones belief on scripture is always best but when questions arise it is prudent to know if it is a serious doctrine question or simply curiosity. I ask odd things of solid believers because I don't want to hinder a believer who may be a babe in doctrine. I have platypus questions. I ask why would the pharisees be more concerned with stature than truth? I ask "did Jesus actually die on Friday?" Moses used pegs instead of screws and nails to build the ark therefore he had to have drills for the peg holes, if he can forge drills, why not screws? See questions can be interesting but not really of any use to spreading of the Gospel. So check this out;
2Ti 2:14-26 Put them in memory of these things, charging them before the Lord not to dispute about words to no profit, to the subverting of the hearers. Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. But shun profane, vain babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. And their word will eat like a gangrene; among whom are Hymeneus and Philetus, who have erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past, and who overthrow the faith of some. Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal: "The Lord knew those who are His." And, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity!" But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor. Therefore if anyone purges himself from these, he shall be a vessel to honor, sanctified and useful to the Master, prepared for every good work. But flee youthful lusts, and follow righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But avoid foolish and unlearned questions, knowing that they give birth to strifes. But the servant of the Lord must not strive, but to be gentle to all, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those who oppose, if perhaps God will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth, and that they awake out of the snare of the Devil, having been taken captive by him, so as to do the will of that one.
Ask questions but be aware of the arena you ask. Peruse scripture and be curious but maintain your roots to the Gospel.
Heavenly Father, Thank you for your Word that sustains us. Thank you for salvation. Thank you for your love for us. Help us be wise in all our endeavors. Open our eyes to truth. Help us maintain a healthy curiosity of your Word. In Jesus name, amen
