Good morning! Man, these crisp mornings make getting up joyous! Many thoughts today and many future lessons being formed this morning but this stuck out for a start to this week;
Romans 12:3-8
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body , and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
NIV
These verses are really cool man! The church, not denomination but the body of Christ, is made up of a bunch of different parts. Look around, some are wise and seem to see things as they are, some encourage others with kind words, some show love with hugs and concern without lip service, some lead, some administrate, some give physical stuff for life on this earth and some will do anything asked and love to help. Survival requires all of these. If all of us were preachers, who would we preach to? If all of us were leaders, who would we lead? Cool that different gifts for different people all come together to form a cohesive unit. Are elders more important than the Pastor? Or the pianist? Or the nursery worker? Nope. All are needed.
1 Corinthians 12:27
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
NIV
Actually, look up 1 Corinthians 12:12-31. No part is to small or more important. Where your gift is, use it! Be of good cheer when it comes to the Lord and what he has given you and don't let the enemy make you envious of another gift! Pray and search the scriptures and find your place! That one deed or word or action that YOU do will make a difference in someones life! Don't be afraid, trust the Lord's pick for you.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your wisdom for us. Thank you for your Word that equips us for your work. Help us see where we are needed. Open our eyes to the needs around us. Show us your grace at work. Please keep the people on the road safe. Be our pilot. We ask for mercy and the wisdom to show mercy. Be with our soldiers and sailors, keep them safe and wise. Help them show mercy. Be with our kids as they grow in this world. Help us be holy examples of you. Thank you in Jesus name, Amen!
