Good morning! Had a good time of music and fellowship with a friend last night. Some real good insight and some new songs. It's funny how God uses people for different things. Young man with different perspective can be a blessing! As we get older we tend to get set in our ways and tend to repeat behavior patterns. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's not. Jesus didn't come and set down set rules on how or when to do certain things, he challenged us to follow his examples, bless God and seek his will.
Mark 1:21-28
They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law. Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit cried out, "What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are-the Holy One of God!" "Be quiet!" said Jesus sternly. "Come out of him!" The evil spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek. The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, "What is this? A new teaching-and with authority! He even gives orders to evil spirits and they obey him." News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.
NIV
In those verses it shows how unorthodox Jesus was compared to how things had been done in the past. Rather than get all balled up in legalism or the way things are to be done, concern your self with your heart condition. Trust in Jesus and see the Holy Spirit at work. Hear him! Check this;
Hebrews 3:12-15
Take care, brethren, lest there should be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, in falling away from the living God. But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end; while it is said,
"Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts, as when they provoked Me."
NAS
Look up those last ones and read the whole text, very interesting. We should be concerned with the condition of the heart, ours and others we meet, not how we or they get religious. Huge subject that we've just touched upon but I pray we all don't get burdened down with dogma and ceremony. Not that those things are always wrong but don't miss the prize by looking at the package.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for revealing your wisdom in your Word. Help us see the principles at work in our walk. Help our heart condition be right with you. Lord we lift up those who seek you and your wisdom. Open their eyes that they see the truth. Thank you for all your blessings. Lord grant Diane peace. We lift our leaders to you. Guide them and help them see the path that should be taken. Thank you for hearing us and grant us wisdom to hear you. In Jesus name, Amen!
