Good morning! Salvation imparted upon you has nothing to do with how good you are or what wonderful things you have done. Salvation is a total gift from God because he loves us. He loves us enough to let us make the choice whether to accept the gift or not. You have all heard," such a good person, they did so many good things, surely they are in heaven." It doesn't work that way. Jesus is the only way you get to heaven. All the religion and good works in the world amount to zip if you don't accept Jesus as savior. There is no religious words to say, no procedures to take to be saved. All we must do is believe the sacrifice was made for you. Believe God loved us so much he gave his son for us. Sometimes it's hard to grasp that and not look at works for salvation but be assured the Word describes it just that way. By seeking Gods face and concentrating on his Word, the good works come. If we really want to do what God has told us, all we need do is ask and the Holy Spirit will indeed guide us. Praying and communing with God daily keeps our light to the world shinning.
Matthew 5:14-16
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
NIV
Colossians 2:13-15
When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
NIV
Focus on Jesus. I don't think God recognises denim over polyester or head down and hands clasped piusly over hoopin and hollerin! He sees his son when we are saved. He says, "what sin? You are forgiven." Rest. Believe and stand firm. Rebuke satan and all his crew. Seek Gods wisdom and show his grace and love.
