daily prayer

Good morning! How are we faithing? I like good story tellers. I like a good story that is told from outside looking in. Stories told with passion, accuracy and cliff notes. If someone acts a certain way in a given situation it helps to know some background so I can see why one would respond they way they did. Jesus told stories in parables and sometimes we tend to frown and say "huh?".  That's ok because as we study more and understand cultural things, the "times" as it was we not only enjoy a good story but learn. I always told my congregations that people don't change, the stuff they do things with does. A good story teller can put you where the story is with all the things around. When Jesus tells the story of the "Good Samaritan" we pictures ourselves there and actually see in our minds eye the events taking place. We also in Biblical context ought to be learning from successes and mistakes of those in the stories. If we just look at them like a movie and then get on with our day, our loss because we didn't apply the lesson taught. Most have heard this story but read it again. Write down all the lessons shown. With this exercise in mind, go read more of these stories and dump any preconceived ideas and listen to the story speak to your heart.

Luk 10:30-37
And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.  And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.  And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.  But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?  And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Heavenly Father,
Open our hearts and minds to your Word. Let it fly off the pages and sink deep into our being. Let your live Word wake us to your grace and love. We lift up the families in pain today. We hold those in mourning at your feet. Comfort and heal all wounds. Show up and show off your magnificent grace and power. In Jesus name, amen
