Good morning! How are we faithing? I am bothered by a dream I had last night and it conjures up so many questions. Unsettling is the best way to describe it. It was one of those you wake and ask,"what was that all about?" So real, so vivid, so weird. Anyways on another note, what are we doing for the cause for Christ? Are we living a holy life? Oh we can't live holy on our own, don't ever think we can, for without Jesus' gift of pardon which opens the door for the Holy Spirit to live in us we would still be our old self. With this renewing and rebirth we can tap into a spirit that is holy therefore we improve. The old man still gets in the way simply due to flesh. I hear "muscle memory" all the time and an example is driving. We don't really have to consciously tell our arms to steer or our foot to brake, it just does therefore it stands to reason if we have sinned in an area for a long time we may still repeat out of that muscle memory or simply habit. Here's what worked for me to reprogram this vessel; daily reading of the Word and a conscious effort to notice when I do the sin, repent and pray. In time the sin ceases...habitually. Oh it can crop up from time to time but now I recognize it, rebuke it in Jesus name and pray. Funny how we can be slaves to our own flesh.
1Th 4:1-8
Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for salvation and for your Holy Spirit that dwells in us. We ask for wisdom and courage to recognize sin and deal with it. We ask for our eyes to see what you see and to be a help to the lost. We ask for a faith so strong the enemy cannot penetrate. We lift our leaders to you that they see you. In Jesus name, amen
