Good morning! How are we faithing? Some of the terminology found in the bible throws western modern culture thinking off. Some of the imagery can result in a vision in our heads that isn't what people a millennia or two ago would see. Paul talks about being a slave to sin and because of Jesus we are now a slave to righteousness. The word slave is difficult for us to picture in any other light than of a cotton farmer whoopin his slave but Paul isn't using the word slave that way. Paul is using it more as addicted to sin. Think about it, when one is, (insert whatever sin), one is a slave to it. We see it all the time in society, porn, drugs, lying, cheating, stealing etc. and when salvation comes we typically move from that slavery to a more Godly pursuits and passions. Breaking free from sin is not always easy as we all know but by seeking Jesus, having the desire to seek Jesus we should become a slave to that righteousness. All this to make you think and it continues yesterdays talk.
Rom 6:15-19
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under Law, but under grace? Let it not be! Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves as slaves for obedience, you are slaves to him whom you obey; whether it is of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness. But thanks be to our God that you were the slaves of sin, but you have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. Then being made free from sin, you became the slaves of righteousness. I speak in the manner of men because of the weakness of your flesh; for as you have yielded your members as slaves to uncleanness, and to lawless act unto lawless act, even so now yield your members as slaves to righteousness unto holiness.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for another day to live for you. Thank you for the wisdom in your Word. We thank you for Paul that he can help us seek you in all we do. Lord, bless the people we contact today. Let us be full of your grace so they want you too. in Jesus name, amen
